The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Season 2 Predictions — And She Has Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.

The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.

The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.

"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.

"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
